The news that Bayh and Keane were out of the running as Barrack Obama’s running mates seemed to point in the direction of Joe Biden. As Friday turned into Saturday the news has begun to confirm that fact. Joe Biden would have been the best choice of candidates from either party to be President, so the notion of him being number two makes sense. His expertise in foreign relations compliments Obama’s weakness nicely and no one McCain chooses to be his vice president will be able to out debate (and certainly not out talk) Joe Biden. Though certainly slated to be a potential Secretary of Defense because of his knowledge of world affairs before being chose as VP, Biden will bring a sharp edge to the ticket that many in the Democratic establishment felt was missing in the campaign. Biden does not mince words. Some say he talks too much, which provides his opponents with ammunition. The Democratic party has been seen as too soft in recent elections and Biden’s tough East Coast temperament should give Obama the attack dog his campaign requires.  biden_obama

One big question is can two Senators win at a time when the legislative branch has record negative ratings? Even McCain has tried to distance himself from the very government body that forged him. You have heard it, “John McCain, the real Maverick.”

Barrack Obama has chosen to forego Evan Bayh of Indiana. Bayh would have been a poor choice simply because he oozes mellowness and it would have landed like a pillow on announcement day. Virginia Governor Tim Keane (who grew up in Overland Park, Kansas) was too much of an unknown. The geography made sense. Obama is attempting to steal Virginia away from the Republicans. Joseph Biden, who commutes to DC everyday from Delaware, doesn’t bring a toss up state into the mix. Biden does, however, bring a feisty presence to the Obama campaign at just the right time.

In picking Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, Barack Obama sought to shore up his weakness - inexperience in office and on foreign policy - rather than underscore his strength as a new-generation candidate defying political conventions.

The picks say something profound about Obama: For all his self-confidence, the 47-year-old Illinois senator worried that he couldn’t beat Republican John McCain without help from a seasoned politician willing to attack. The Biden selection is the next logistical step in an Obama campaign that has become more negative - a strategic decision that may be necessary but threatens to run counter to his image.

Democratic strategists, fretting over polls that showed McCain erasing Obama’s lead this summer, welcomed the move. They, too, worried that Obama needed a more conventional - read: tougher - approach to McCain.

Why would he need to do all that unless Obama has no substance. Maybe he is just another Paris Hilton.

I’m still wondering what McCain stands FOR. His ads are all about Obama. Have you noticed that. He has no grand strategy to alter the status quo. He has even caved in to drilling as if that is the answer to our energy woes.

Obama has no substance if you think he will not begin to increase revenue in order to pay for such things as foreign wars. I guess conservatives no longer believe in fiscal responsibility. Just don’t worry about the terrorism thing…go shop. Obama has no substance if you don’t think he will emphasize a NASA-like energy policy that will change the nature of the way this nation uses and develops energy. Or stop giving oil companies tax breaks, or stop giving companies tax breaks to take jobs overseas. McCain doesn’t talk about squat. Even when he is bashing Obama he has a microphone in one hand and is reading a paper because he is not skilled enough to speak from the heart, or use a teleprompter properly. I am stunned after eight years of someone with no charisma there are people who are willing to elect McCain who, amazingly enough, has perhaps even less charisma than Bush.

When Paris Hilton shows she can head the Harvard Law Review, be an outsider and become Senator of a state she wasn’t born in or stand on foreign and domestic shores and inspire tens of thousands to show up then she will be Obama’s equal.

Biden was chosen to help square up Obama’s support among working class voters, particularly in state’s like Pennsylvania and Ohio. It was a great choice in that regard. Biden has a great ability to insult his opponent in ways that aren’t mean spirited. In that regard he is a great compliment to Obama. Obama would prefer to not go negative but McCain is using Bush operatives to turn the campaign negative. That is all the Republicans know. They have no value positions anymore, they now win on fear and negativity. If that makes you comfortable then continue voting for Republicans who are driving this nation into the toilet.

My problem with Obama is he is saying what people want to hear. He is a thin as his build. If Biden is so perfect then why is he not the Presidential Candidate. What Obama did was genius because he put a more powerful politician as VP. That way people will actually think they are voting for Biden.

  5. JadedSage Says:

That is a compliment as far as I am concerned. If you think Biden is a powerful politician then he selected the person most able to become President if something happens to Obama. People, however, never vote for VP. Both candidates are saying what people want to hear. That is politics. McCain has changed the whole nature of his political core to appeal to Conservatives.

I just can not believe how dumb the democrats are… In an election that is theirs to lose they put one of the most liberal senators as their nominee.
Found this on the internet. I know abortion is hot topic, but listen to the words of the guy you are voting for. He is so extreme that a baby born alive deserves to die… My cousins baby was born at 21 weeks…She was born just over 1 pound. She is a normal 3 year old today.
McCain is the same old politician, but I think that is better than an extremist.

The problem with this arguement is it is not true. Do you think a man with two young children would arbitrarily choose to support infanticide? Look a little closer. Think a little harder. Obama is pro-choice and supports Roe v. Wade. That is a fact. The Illinois bill in question was worded such that its passage could be used to bring down Roe v. Wade. To understand the mechanics of the bill read the following:
