Just Put the Shovel Down

dig_hole_220 The full blown demise of the Republican Party is doing nothing for the betterment of the country. That’s right, you heard it here. The ongoing collapse of the GOP highlights the flaws of a two party system. From a liberal perspective, Obama’s programs have a lot of merit but the absence of viable debate is not good. There are no leaders in the House, the Senate or among those who would be candidates for President in 2012 from the Republican Party who carry any political weight and none of them certainly can’t stand up to Obama. Those who oppose Obama’s agenda are hoping either his own party bogs him down or his policies fail on their own merit. It will not be the Republicans who bring Barack Obama down.

Many believed the bottom for the GOP had been reached with the 2008 election, but events within the party continued to spiral. It wasn’t just your average tawdry tales that has rocked the party. Rather it was decisions made by men within the party who chose to build up their credentials with fonts of morality only to fall way short of their own convictions. Ensign, Sanford and now possibly Palin have caused raised eyebrows from the party’s staunchest allies. (If it isn’t an impending scandal that has caused Palin to step down as Governor, the speech she gave today should be cause enough to end a political career.)

So the question is, who will emerge from the Republican Party to be a worthy adversary of Barack Obama? When some have staked their claim to Limbaugh to be the voice of the party, when the National Chairman is Michael Steele and there is no politician that contends to have any comprehensive answers to the problems that face this country from the conservative side, it is clear the GOP has some serious soul searching and a lot of ground to make up.

Poll numbers below Bush in the same timeframe. Wow didn’t take long to see this slick talking salesman was all talk. If the energy bill passes then every American will pay more. It may not be a tax, but it might as well be. If you tax energy then only the people that use electricity or gas will be effected. Last time I checked everybody uses it as well as every business. Therefore everything will be more expensive. Don’t worry though because we won’t pay for it, just our kids and their kids.

Take a look at this article. Obama will bring down Obama. Americans want the country run in the middle. Bush started that way, but was taken to the right. Obama has started left and seems to be going farther left. Not very many people like the idea of waiting at the Doctor’s office like the DMV. They do not like the idea of all the paperwork to get a test like the IRS requires to pay taxes. They do not want to be stuck with a run down inadequate health care system like most major urban school districts. As we see the government is not good at running anything. Also most Americans do not want to buy a car from the government. Just image how much it will cost…probably as much as the million dollar space pen…(I know it is urban legend, but it proves a point..)

And just imagine, Bush at this time in his term didn’t have a near economic collapse and two wars. Why are you comparing a Health Care system with a public option to an urban school system? Why don’t you compare it to the government run health systems that are already in place: the VA and Medicare? Both systems have much merit. As for the government running the car companies, the fact is if they didn’t step in there would be no American car companies. As for me, I buy Hondas and will until the US can make a good inexpensive car. If you are cool with thousands of auto workers hitting the streets as their companies go out of business, then fine. The reality is big money has brought this country down and no one has paid for it but those who had nothing to do with the collapse. Like most folks on the right you are all about finger pointing and no solutions. Look at your post above. There is not even the slightest notion of fixing what big money conservatives have broken.

Thanks for proving my point. If the US can’t make a good car then why waste Billions to save a company that will be extinct. I will never buy a GM because of the quality of vehicle. You will not buy it because it is too expensive. There is no comparison between them and Toyota. Therefore let’s keep a company around that is making worthless cars. The reality is that government has brought this country down and it has been happening for too long. It is both Republicans and Democrats.

How much is the next four years going to cost Americans? At least Clinton knew he had to balance the budget, even if it meant shutting the government down.

Clinton had a roaring economy due to the “dot com” boom. One of the major reasons US cars are so expensive is due to the fact they must provide health care. To be competitive with the global market it is imperative we have national health care. I’m not too removed from your point about the auto industry. I just think it is a damned if you do, damned if you don’t proposition. People have begun to hammer the Obama administration because the unemployment rate is nearing 10%. Well, they can’t have it both ways. You can’t hammer him for the unemployment at the same time you hammer him for trying to save the auto industry. I don’t believe it is the government that is responsible for the current crisis. It is, primarily, horrible decisions made by those in the financial ivory towers. (see credit default swap, et al.)
